About Gemunu Jayantha
Gemunu's educational foundation is rooted in Ibbagamuwa Central College and the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation, laying the groundwork for his illustrious career in the media industry. Soon after that, at the end of 2000, Gemunu joined the 'Abhina' performing art academy conducted by veteran actress Anoja Weerasinghe. With a wealth of experience and expertise collected from SLBC and Abhina Academy, Gemunu has held pivotal roles that have marked his name in the broadcasting landscape in Sri Lanka.
In 2002, Gmunu joined Sirasa FM, an iconic Sinhala language radio station under the conglomerate Capital Maharaja Group. He continues to shine there while accumulating valuable experience until 2010.
Gemunu served as the Broadcasting Manager at Radio Asia UAE, and during his tenure at Radio Asia in the United Arab Emirates, Gemunu gathered a robust background in the broadcasting field and expertise in managing radio operations. That made him a valuable professional in the broadcasting industry.
After that venture, Gemunu's journey led him to be a presenter at ABC radio network under the mothership EAP Broadcasting Company Limited. Then, he came up to the position of Manager of Programs at Radio Asia Broadcasting Company (ABC), including "Ran FM" under EAP Broadcasting Company. Having served as the Former Director of Programming at Sitha 888 Radio, Gemunu showcased his strategic vision and leadership skills. His role as the Former Manager of Creative and content at Ran FM further exemplifies his commitment to pushing creative boundaries in the field. One of Gemunu's notable contributions to the broadcasting world is creating and hosting the memorable programme "Mathaka Pada." This distinctive show revolves around presenting ten songs intricately tied to someone's memories, history, and nostalgia. Through "Mathaka Pada," Gemunu skillfully crafts a narrative that transcends the mere entertainment value, delving into the profound connections between music and personal experiences.
